I have a 4 month old who EVERY time he gets excited & starts playing & giggling he starts to cough -- Now he doesn't have any nasal stuffiness & no other symptoms of the common cold. What else could it be? I was thinking Asthma possibly? But does it show up in babies at such a young age??

even if you don't pay him, he is being paid to CARE for your son.
here is some help finding a new doctor that will accept medicaid. call this hotline and get the names and numbers of dr's in your area. call the closest one and see if they are accepting new patients.
KIDMED/CommunityCARE Referral Assistance Hotline: 1-877-455-9955
or you can check out this site (they might have some listed already, but I dont know your area)

being a new mom is hard enough without people (that are supposed to look out for you) trying to make you feel ignorant. you are not supposed to know everything, HENCE the NEED to ask questions. it makes me so angry when people get some ego power trip out of their job like that. you will have to wait on hold on the medicaid line to change his primary care physician, but the security a new dr can provide will be so nice.

No I don't think it's a cold because it's been like this for about 2 months && well a cold doesn't last that long soo that's not possible... && well asthma is in my family (not too much, but it's there) I just don't know if babies can even 'HAVE' it you know... It makes me so nervous he's so tiny & I don't want him to have to be on any medication!

My baby went through that. Her pediatrician said even though she's not stuffy, she could have fluids running down her throat, making her cough. Babies can show signs of allergies as early as 2 months. My kiddo takes Zyrtec (which is safe for babies in the right dose) now, and she is a different kid. My neighbor's baby girl does this fake cough all the time... It might just be a new sound he's experimenting with. I wouldn't worry to much about it, unless it disturbs his eating or sleeping.

I was just going to tell you my thoughts were probably asthma too. hmmm probably nothing to scurry off to to the doc about , but I would get him checked next time you go in more sooner than later. they will probably have you do a some breathing treatments with him on a scheduled basis. or who knows. maybe get him in, its better safe than sorry. my sister went to ck on her little 6 mnts old when he was sleeping and he was blue and lathargic from lack of oxygen. they flew him by helecoper to a larger hospital about 100 miles from where we currently live and found out it was asthsma. of course this was a severe case and he has out grown it now, but just to be on the safe side sorry, didn't mean to scare ya, just taking the proper precautions. ya-know' like I said, everyone is different, it could be simple, but hen it comes to children, I wouldn't take any chances. he is your little sweetpea

I smoke but not ANYWHERE near him.. EVER! I took him to the doctor 2 weeks ago for his 4 month shot && the doctor was like 'Oh it's nothing to worry about' .. but I don't exactly trust him really. I mean I'm seriously considering switching peditricians because he always has some smart a*s comment about everything I ask - I don't know if I ask 'too' many questions or what but I mean I'm a parent, ya know I SHOULD be concerned about every little thing, especially this -- it's really the only thing that just alarms me that something could possibly be wrong, but it's SO hard to switch doctors around here I have to like go through a LONG a*s process with the insurance company & what not!

switch doctors. there is no such thing as a stupid question coming from a new mom (or anyone really) you should never pay someone to take care of your child that you don't trust. switch, it'll be worth it.

I'm on medicaid so I don't pay him anyway - that's why it's SO hard to switch doctors.. PLUS I have to find one who will accept medicaid! It's so complicated !
