Why do they change the titles of questions?

My husband, our daughter, and myself, one year ago Asked by selenamama 6 months ago, 6 answers.

It really annoys me when I see that the title of my question has been changed, someone reads the new title, and then just responds to that, without even looking at my question. I would like to ask that whoever is doing that to please stop.

Actually doesn't your question state something like What to do before my wedding since I don't know when or where it is? Not trying to be rude, just trying to show my train of thought 'wedding advice' isn't as descriptive of a title as it could be.

Sorry about that.

We change them to make them more easy to understand. Frequently, it's a title of 'help' or 'how do I?' which isn't helpful to people who read the site.

If you make your question titles more descriptive, then they won't be edited.

Generally, though, if people are responding to the question title, and not the whole question, it's not the fault of us changing your question title...people really, really should read the whole question before answering.

I mean, one of my questions is about what I can do before I book the place for my wedding. I did NOT want to know where good places are to have my wedding. I just wanted advice on things I can do BEFORE I know where it will be.

Well, I think maybe if you try to shorten your titles to your questions that would help.
I know I wasn't much help to you but, I hope you take my advice.

All of them get edited.
They edit it to improve the search engine and whatnot.
Usually when they edit it, it makes more sense. Whether you like it or not, its probley not going to stop. If one of your titles gets changed and isn't asking what you meant, simple contact 'thedude' or 'editor' and they will help you out. Its not their fault the user doesn't read your question. Your making it sound like such a big deal when all you have to do it contact someone and ask nicely to have it changed to something else.

Did you mean this question in particular?

It's not that the question title is misleading (it's not) it's that, clearly, several people who answered didn't actually read the whole question.

That's a separate issue from the changing of the question titles to be more clear, don't you think?

'editor' is right.
I figured there was a logical reason behind your title being changed.
