Why do the upperclassman hate freshman?

I know they don't really hate us, but why exactly is it just tradition to hate the new ones? I mean, we didn't ask to be co-inhabitants with them, it just sort of happens. What are we supposed to do, stay in eighth grade our whole lives? xD How do we...

newbies prove to them that we're not just some stupid little kids, and that we're actual people?

Because when the upperclassmen were freshmen, they were hated on too. Now that us upperclassmen are, well, upperclassmen, we have the right to hate on frosh like you.

But if we stop the hate now, it all ends! XDD Eh, I just don't get it. It's like hating infants because they're not toddlers, hating toddlers because they're not children, and hating children because they're not teenagers, etc, etc...I just don't get it. Why can't we all just get along? =DD

Well, teenagers just wouldn't be teenagers if that was the case.
Besides, Freshman are pretty much just 8th Graders + a couple of months.
