because it's nice to have something to believe in. something to have hope in. just to know that someone loves you for you and nothing less or more. and to know that being a good person in life will pay off in the end!

but some people need something to beleive in
someone to blame, someone to thank, and someone to answer all there unaswered questions
but then again some people dont
either one if perfectly fine, as long as theres no forcing of religion onto others

If you believe in god, you get free stuff you don't deserve. If you don't, then someone hurts you real bad even if you don't deserve it.

God is just some guy who bought Sim City and was bored. Some guy sitting at a giant computer is controlling you right now. When you have several decisions going through your head and you don't know which one to pick, God does. 'Flirt? Tickle? Entertain?' He decides. You have no say in The Sims. You're just some computer graphic.

That is God.

God is various things but he isnt real. And there's not much good coming from believing in him. The basic idea of religion is to keep people in line and to keep the public under control. And the ultimate judge, jury and executioner is God. Religion is just a law to live by and the main rules are the ten commandments.

Because everyone needs something to believe in...
either themselves or guilt. Many pick guilt...

If you accept the premise that God created everything (and I do, along with millions of others of various religions) then it is pretty great to have a relationship with Him...

Amoeba knows I haven't picked 'guilt' I think - to me, knowing God is the most life-affirming thing in both good times and bad (and times are pretty bad for my family at the moment, so I can vouch for that).

wow. just a few words, but you opened up a Pandora's box, didn't you? believing in God solves a lot of life's big questions; how did I get here, why am I here, where am I going, and so on. people think God is great because they believe that he made us, and that he made the earth for us, and that he put us here, and that he loves us no matter what we do. -and anyone that's willing to do all that for us MUST be great. -much more than that, and you get into one particular religion. I'll delve into mine just for the sake of a shameless plug. I'm mormon, and in my faith, we believe that God created us, and that we existed before we were born. we believe that our purpose here on earth is to obtain a physical body, and to gain knowledge along the path to eternal life. I believe that God made this world, and that He made us, and that through Jesus Christ we can return to live with Him again. without that belief, we're just plodding along here for 80 years or so, and whatever we managed to do with our lives is for the most part a moot point. I suppose whatever good we did might be remembered either way, but without a higher power, there seems little point in doing anything other than looking out for yourself. I would live quite a different lifestyle, to be sure. anyways, it really depends on whether you believe in God or not...but from a believer's standpoint, He means the world to me. live the dream.

Well that's pointless, I'd rather EXIST.

Coming to know God is the best thing that has/will ever happen to me in my life.
There are so many great things about believing in Him. He gives us a purpose and meaning in life, which so many people are searching for. He has everlasting grace and mercy, and He has provided eternal life in heaven for us. When we have no one else, we will always have God.
