Should religion bring religious people together?

Should religion bring religious people together or separate them and why?

the idea of what religion preaches I think brings people together, but religion itself, is rules and beliefs added on to a centralized belief, which denominates it down and causes more problems than solutions

It depends of what da religion is.. if itsz plle who have da same religion I would think that it would bring dem closer because dere prayin for da same god and dey shuld have about da same goalsz why not try to succeed dem 2gether? but if itsz differnet religons den I guess uall get pushed father away.. it depends what the person belives in...

religion brings people of the same religion together, and segregates the people from other religions. Hence why religion is responsible for so much bloodshed and slaughter.

it should, in therie, bring people together. but thanks to some extremists they've gone and killed each other and hate other religons

jesus did not teach religion but a relationship with the father, jesus was agenst the Pharisees(the religious people of his day)

Regardless of what anyone thinks religion should do, what it does do, is to foster an us/them mentality, as well as promoting blind obedience to authority. Both of these traits tend to promote discord.
