Why do my speakers make a funny noise before I get a text?

Ok so when I have my phone near a set of speakers (can be my laptop speakers, PC speakers or hi-fi), this happens. It’s not a problem, I’m just interested as to what is the cause of it.

Before I am about to receive a text message…and by before I mean literally 5 seconds before, my speakers make this funny creaking noise. This basically tells me I’m about to get a text which is pretty cool, but what causes it? It happens all the time.

Thanks.

It’s because your phone is sitting to close to your computer.

Its like a feature from your phone giving you a heads up that your getting a text message, if not then well might be a malfunction with your sound system on your phone.

Answer #3

Actually, it is the electromagnetic feedback of the text or cell signal in the air. Your speakers act as a rudimentary receiver. The actual wire acts as an antenna and it converts straight to noise. It’s like the noise when you touch the wire on a guitar amplifier. That’s why it sounds weird. If it were an intended feature, they would have modified the carrier frequency to actually make a sensible alert instead of a bunch of noise you can do nothing about.
