Why did the corrupt democrat hide the money in the freezer?

I keep thinking, ever since I read about the corrupt democrat who got caught with 90K here...why did he hide the money in the freezer? Did he take the expression "cold hard cash" too seriously, OR was he simply too inept to come up with a better hiding place? Thoughts?
