Who makes the best kitchen knives?

Does anyone know who is the best brand of kitchen knives on the market? I want a set that won't get trashed so quickly. My old set are non-branded knives so I didn't expect much from them. They are all dinged up now and it is hard for me to even use them. Forget the keeping an edge they dull every usage. What should I buy?
