Who has found that warm milk actually helps insomnia?

Well, it’s 3am, and I’m unable to sleep. Thankfully, tomorrow is a Saturday, so I can skip my morning gym and work routine. Is anyone else here having insomnia tonight, and does warm milk actually help sleep? Or is drinking warm milk just an Old Wives’ Tale? It’s never seemed to work for me…it just is nasty.

Answer #1

I’m an insomniac myself, and I found that the only thing that helps me is either sleeping pills, or (if I need to avoid the sleepy hangover in the morning) Eucalyptus. I use it either as a bath salt or bubble bath just before bedtime and it helps me calm down enough to sleep (forget Lavender - it’s never done a thing for me).

I can’t sleep either. For me, usually reading and having peppermint tea does the trick. It’s quite soothing.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried warm milk, though. It does sound pretty gross.

im also an insomniac, its not much fun! Its always worse if I am worrying about something so I have a bedtime routine that kinda prepares me for sleep and gets me to relax a bit. For me the warm milk think works to some degree. It doesnt exactly put me to sleep but it does make me feel a bit more relaxed, although I think it might just be because my mum used to make it for me when I was young and couldnt sleep so I think its just a familiarity thing. Baths are good. Camomile and spearment tea is also good.

I tend to wake up a few times.. Sometimes more than a few heh. My probably is convincing myself to go to sleep. It’s kinda weird.. Even If I’m really tired. But anyways, tea can help.. And try to not move when youre trying to sleep. When you have that feeingl that you just have to move, it’s your mind trying to see if your body is asleep or not. Because your body and mind don’t know what one another is doing. And if you can’t sleep, or you wake up, do NOT turn on ANY lights. Or your mind will have to go throw the whole trying to get to sleep process again
