Where do I find good contractors?

I need a good Remodelling contractor to do my kitchen. Where is a good source to find quality craftsmen?

Craigslist is one way, servicemagic.com is another, yet a 3rd is to learn to do it yourself and then hire the help from the home depot parking lot...there are typically some laborers there in the parking area waiting to be hired for short term construction projects.
