Does Realtor.com give good advice on mortgages?

I also wanted to know if “realtor.com” is a good place to find mortgages or get advice on where the best place to a mortgage is. Do they work directly with banks? How are their rate quotes if they do compared to the other companies like lending tree?

Answer #1

Go with a real mortgage company, preferably a local one that you can actually go into the office and speak to a human. ERA is a great resource for Realtors and also have their own mortgage company(it is a seperate entity). Countrywide, Banks and local mortgage companies are the best. The origination fees are outragous on these online services and an online service may pre approve you today and 2 months from now when you are about to close, they can reject you without notice. Good luck.

Answer #2

For a mortgage, better to use something like ditech (owned / run by GMC) than to use Realtor.com as that’s run by the national association for realtors, and is a great way to find a house, but not the best for a mortgage. Eloan, and lending tree would work for a mortgage too though.
