In our generation of space age technology, millions are searching for meaning. Mankind has always sought for fulfillment through knowledge, materialism, power and pleasure. King Solomon once explained man’s empty search for meaning without God as, All is vanity and a striving after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:11) This is not to say that there is not a certain amount of joy to be found in the accumulation of knowledge, wealth, pleasure and power. It is not to say that there is no pleasure in the world around us. But if one or more of these areas become the chief goal in life we are destined for disappointment. Each of these things have their place, but not as the central focal point of our lives.
If we are to find meaning and direction for life, we must understand that true meaning and purpose in life is to be found in godly relationships. It is found first in a relationship with God. Once our relationship with God is right then our relationship with our neighbors, a healthy relationship with self and with the world around us will be right.

pfft the meaning of life is simple:

The meaning of life is to make more life.

Theres no other purpose so we make up our own to feel better about ourselves, so we feel it is to feel good, and any human will do ANYTHING to feel good.

What I believe, as an Anglican, that we must thank God for giving us a gift. The gift of life. And, as others were given this gift, we should share the love of The Father, The Son, And The Holy Ghost. Well, thats my opinion.

jimahl .. I'd bet you mean 420 the way you go out of your way to dumb-down others questions and sincere answers. why not stick to questions for and about Atheism and allow believers to actually contribute something of value to one another? I don't see others leaving nonsensical garbage to your questions.

calm down, it was a joke. I was trying to see if anyone would get it. I guess no one here ever read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. They were searching for the answer to the question 'what is the meaning of life?'. It was 42.

And I think you need to take a pill. This is called FUNadvice. I can answer whatever question I want to as long as I don't violate the terms of use.

And this question said nothing about belief in dieties. I think the meaning of life is whatever you want it to be. There is no right answer. 42 is as good as any.

Please tell me what other 'nonsensical garbage' I have posted?

I am only condescending or flippant to the most fanatical believers. Like those who deny evolution.

but why be that way toward anybody? It doesn't help to win them over to your way of thinking. It gets their defenses up. If you don't ridicule, you have a more open mind willing to hear you out. present your case (on topic) If the question asks specifically for like-minded individual's answers; don't feel you have to poo poo their heartfelt beliefs.
It so happens many of us believers believe in evolution/creation, but it shouldn't make a difference. be gracious toward everyone; they too have their own truth to share. don't try to make others feel small because you think that your truth is the only view to take. GOD
gives us free will for a reason-that we may freely come to discover our relationship to Him, whatever it might be.

When ever I speak to someone new, I am never disrespectful. I just trying to state the facts, and will engage in debate. But when they return with junk science that has been long debunked, then they have lost all credibility, and they deserve to be treated as such. Evolution is not a belief. It is a fact. It has been proven beyond any doubt that evolution has occured. Yet some people are so blinded by their beliefs and mythology, they refuse to even attempt to understand the science. They refuse to even consider they might be wrong. So they cling to this idea that their is some huge conspiracy by scientists to prove god doesn't exist, and that they are making up all the evidence there is that proves evolution.

Quoting that you believe your god gives youfree will is meaningless to me. You must know I am an atheist, so why would you tell me this? Are you trying to convert me?

nope ... just being myself and allowing others to speak their own minds. without my faith
in the God of my understanding, I would be lost in a world of little dictators who think they can treat people as subclass citizens, because they fancy themselves more learned and educated than they really are. if I am blinded by my beliefs, it is the blinding light of God's revelation of His truth and presence in my life. life is like a banquet and those invited have equal access to the feast. if you choose to say that there is no bounty to partake of,then you starve.I for one give thanks and dig-in. I simply answered the question ^what's the meaning to life^. ...

true religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness. ~ Albert Einstein

the life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt. to this end my free will (meaningless to you)- will prevail.

Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount. ~penned by

I guess that's what separates the lovers from the authorities. you can have your superior attitude, me; I'll take my LORD.

Life becomes religious whenever we make it so: when some new light is seen, when some deeper appreciation is felt, when some larger outlook is gained, when some nobler purpose is formed, when some task is well done. ~ Sophia Lyon Fahs

So, to that end; I will continue to spread the good news that I know to be true as I have come to appreciate it. no, every house will not be of my accord. I simply shake off every grain of sand from my sandals and merrily move ahead to the front of the class.

Stop exagerating. Debating, and proving someone total lacks credibility is not treating them as a sub-class. Courtesy goes both ways, and insults fly both ways. Stop acting so morally supieor simply because you have faith in the supernatural. Belief in dieties has no correllation to moral behavior. In fact some of the most atrocious events in history have been committed in the name of a diety.

I am sorry if you think I am being too hard on the creationists, but they are trying to insert their mythology into my kids science class, and I consider that a real threat to our society.

*** true religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness. ~ Albert Einstein ***

Are you really going to use a diest who did not believe in an after life to support your beliefs? He believed god was nature, not some supernatural being. He was not a believer.

I don't know who you think hasn't heard your 'good news' that it still needs spreading. I have heard it all my life, and I have no need to hear it anymore.
