Infant baptism is an outward sign that your parents will raise you in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ, or "to train up a child in the way they should go."

Believer's baptism is also an outward sign that you have accepted/taken Jesus into your heart and know that He alone is God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all in one: The Trinity, who died for your sins, rose, and will come again in Glory.

Baptism NEVER saves. There may be a spiritual connection, but it may be a feeling of duty or obedience to study the Lord.

Again, only confessing that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, is part of His saving grace.
Bless you as you find the Lord, reach for Him and He will draw near to you because He is always calling your name and singing over you!

Baptism is a symbol of sins being washed away (submerging), to take on a new life, being made a new creature in Christ (rising out of the water) - Baptism is done in obedience to the example set forth by Jesus - Do not view baptism as saving you. Only Jesus can do that and even so, only through our faith - Salvation (John 3 : 16)...hope this helps !!

That is incorrect.

When being baptized into a certain religion, it means that your sins are forgiven, you've washed them away, and, you've been welcomed into a certain religion.
I know all religion do baptisms since it all depends how they do them. Most religions do the emurtion, some do the sprinkling, depends. Still, you'll be baptized just as Jesus did. When you're baptized, you'll receive the gift of the holy ghost. That's what my religion believes in anyway.

Originally, the baptism ritual was a sign of purity - those who had attained purity inside showed that by being baptized - it's a tradition borrowed from Judaism. This is why Biblically, John the Baptist hesitated to Baptize Jesus - because Biblically, Jesus was more pure than John.

But it no longer means that. Now it means "I'm a dues paying member of this church".

It's a trap from which you can't escape. Because they have some kind of a law that prevents you to 100% escape from your religion. Thats why we are trying to prevent Christianity in our country because it's against human rights.

It's many good things:

The outward symbol of what we decide in our hearts - to follow Jesus. If baptized as a baby, it's the symbol that this is what your parents hope for you.
The outward symbol of how our sins have been washed away by His sacrifice.
The outward symbol of taking our place in the community of His people.

Here are some things it is NOT:

Anything that saves us in itself (as others have already said).
Some kind of binding trap (odd coment above - many babies who are Christened/baptised do not go on to live Christian lives and take on an adult faith, so it can hardly be described as something we can't get out of).

Baptism is an outward sign that you have taken the final step in accepting Jesus, at least in Christianity.

To me, baptism means that you are being obedient to what God laid out in the bible. After we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the next step is baptism.

As we go under the water, this symbolizes the dying out of our old man, and the rising up or our new one.

It represents being washed clean of our sins, thru the power of the blood, of Christ.

We are clean, we have been given a new slate, and brand new beginning.

And contrary to what Capn said, about you being able to commit sin, or even gross sin, afterward, without penalty, that is just not so. There is nothing in the Word of God, that allows us to committ sin, willfully, without punishment, and without consequences.

We are forgiven, up to that point, and from then, on, we are to learn how to walk, to recognize sin, for what it truly is, and that sin, is what put Christ on the cross.

If we truly repented, to begin with, and are not just doing something because everyone esle is, then, the Holy Spirit came to live within your spirit, and from then on, that same Holy Spirit, begins to remove the want to, that we all have, to sin.

We can, but, we will not enjoy it, as we once did, provided again, that we were sincere to begin with.

See, man can fool man, but, man can never fool God.

God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts, and for those that say we can live any way, we want, and sin all we want, they simply do not know what Gods word truly says.

Jesus died to take away sin, to destroy it in our lives. Not so that we could keep on sinning.

If you are saved, you will want to serve the Living God. You will no longer want to serve the flesh.

However, this does not come all at once, so that confuses many, but, God is the only one that can truly judge each of us. It is not given to us, to determine who goes and who stays.

We can show the roadmap, and we can pray, and encourage, but, in the end, it is between God and each of us, noone can stand in our place. We each have to answer for ourselves. We shall all stand before God on judgement day, and our life will flash before our eyes.

I once wondered about that, how we could see our entire life flash before us, but, then, as I got older, I could easily recall much of what had happened in my life, and this on my own, without any supernatural help at all. So, now, I see that it will be no problem whatsoever, for God to bring it to mind.

Hope to see you all there.

God bless..
