what- what does it mean when putn vapor rub on baby's feet?

ok so I’ve been hearing people say if a baby is sick put vapor rub on there feet?

What does this do 4 the baby and do it work on adults as well, because my lil cuzn (9 Months) is getting a lil cold and a runny nose so I put it on her feet and put socks on her and stuffed her in a all in one onesie…

can anybody help me out here or give me advice on how to help her get rid of this before she has to go to the dr?

Hi,

vapor rub is for inhalation. And it’s made for adults.

It has aetheric oils in it, that will make the nose run even more and thus make it wash out the virus. Also it will enable you to breathe mote freely if your nose has previously been blocked by slime.

The medication is not made for babys, because it’s way too strong. If you rub it on the babys feet, then the oils is farther away from the nose and mouth. This will make the effect of the medicament weaker.

Please read the instructions in the medication. If it’s not tested for kids in any medical studies, the instructions will probably tell you the medicament is not to be used for kids. There are few medicaments tested for kids. So most doctors use adult medication and reduce the dose according to body weight. You’re basically doing the same if you rub it on her feet instead of her chest. If there are any known complications that kids will get when using the medication (like allergic reactions or bad adverse reactions) then the instructions will contain a warning about it and tell you to never, ever use the medication on a kid.

best wishes for the lil’ one. Tell her get well soon! the sheep

There are vapor rubs made for children/babies. Honestly I think the reason some people say to rub it on their feet is because of the sinus pressure points in everyone’s feet. When you rub them it is supposed to help their sinus’s. I used to put the children’s vapor rub on my kids feet and on their chest when they would go to bed…it did help.

I have never put vicks on my child’s feet. They make a “Baby Vicks” just for little ones and I use it all the time on my chlidren. My daughters are 8 months and my son is 4. It works very well in helping with breathing better and clearing out their little noses better. I swear by it.
