Shoreline lake - there are boat rentals, you can get tutoring for a sail boat, or rent a paddle boat. The same area, you can fly a kite (literally).
Shoreline amphitheater usually has events, concerts, etc, which you can check out. There is also the cow palace in San Jose, which is ~20 minutes away, and has regular events.
In SF:
Fisherman's Wharf
Exploratorium
The aquarium (you get to walk underwater, very cool)
If you haven't seen redwood trees before, you can see some on the way to the San Francisco Zoo, and you can also check out the Museum of Modern Art (Moma) in SF.
Perhaps if you follow up with something like what kind of activites, things to do, etc, you're looking for in or near Mountain View, I can help more
I live in Cupertino, which is just down the street from Mountain View really.

What is there to do in mountain view?
I'm in town for 3 weeks, and besides Great America amusement park and going into San Francisco, I can't find anything to do here. Any suggestions?
