What is the best way to write a resume?

What is the best way to write a resume? I am looking to switch jobs again and my last resume I used a template from microsoft word. There has to be a better way to write a resume. Are there any tricks I should try?

There is a site where you can find examples of resumes, tips how to write it, all sort of articles related to this topic. Don't forget that your experience represents an important issue in your resume: especially write about those jobs which are somehow related to the job you are applying for.Write about your strong points, your abilities. The layout should look professional , and be sure there are no grammar or spelling mistakes.

Templates are a good way to go, if you can, try to get a copy of some resumes that have worked well in your field.

Though to be honest, aside form highlighting your experience well, the best way to land a step up is to network with other people in your field. If you can, meet some, buy them lunch / drinks, etc, join a trade group or chamber of commerce to meet folks. They say that the good old boy network works wonders, and I'm a firm believer in it. The last few jobs I got were all from networking, and each was a step above the previous one.

Good luck in your resume writing, but I'd honestly focus most on meeting people and less on trying to make your resume polished.
