Q: What is commonly asked in job interviews?

I have to go to my first real job interview next week. Should I expect any questions that are always asked in the common job interview?

A: I have been a Recruiter for 10 years now and there are several articals on CareerBuilder.com that can assist you with common interview questions. It is equally important for you to have a list of questions for the interviewer as you want to make sure this position/company is right for you. Also, keep in mind that the person interviewing you may not be a professional interviewer and having a prepared list of questions will save the potential embarrassment of not knowing what to talk about next. Be confident, calm and in control. Eye contact, firm (but not bone crushing) handshake, sitting up in your chair and dressing professional are all initial steps to securing the option to pursue the position to the next level. If, at the end of the interview, you like what you have heard about the position and company, do not hesitate to ask the interviewer what the next steps in the process are. Express your interest in the position and you are interested in moving to the next step. Ask for a business card of everyone you meet with and Follow up IMMEDIATELY with a thank you note to everyone individually. GOOD LUCK!
