the catholics don't believe you get saved by accepting Jesus as your savior (like christians believe). they believe that it's by their works they get into heaven

Actually, Catholics are Christian, and believe that your works show your belief and that belief without works is empty. The Apostles Creed lays out the basics of Catholic belief:

I believe in God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
And in in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin, Mary, suffered under Ponius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again.
He ascended into heaven, where he is seated at the right hand of God, the Father, Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy, Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurection of the body, and life everlasting.
Amen

There is a book called the Complete Idiot's Guide to Catholicism that is pretty good, with lots of information.

Christians are those who follow Jesus Christ. Since Catholicism does not follow Jesus Christ they it cannot be considered as Christianity. Catholicism believes that works are required for salvation. Biblically faith in Jesus Christ is what saves us. Works of faith comes after we have faith. But in Catholicism more importance is given to works and by works they means a lot non-Christian ritualistic practices such as the sacraments.

Catholicism assumes the story that it is original denomination that began with Peter with the head and that Peter was made the head by Jesus Christ himself. In reality the Roman Emperor is the one who started Catholicism.

Catholicism does not consider the Bible to be the sole authority. They believe the Pope to be the supreme authority.

This is about Catholicism in a nutshell.

The Catholic church does not follow the word of God. They have their own doctrine that they keep changing according to their convenience. The religion is filled with rituals that are not Biblical. There are many such reasons that would make it clear that this religion does not have any resemblance to the Christianity of the Bible.

Jesus came to provide us salvation. Jesus said that He is the only way to the Father. He asked his disciples to go and proclaim this message. Anyone who does that is a Christian. Catholics don't do this as according to them all ways lead to heaven. Thus they are not Christians.

***The Catholic church does not follow the word of God. They have their own doctrine that they keep changing according to their convenience.***

That would be EVERY denomination of Christianity. As time progresses, cultures change, as do sociological structure, even the BIBLE itself is revised and updated constantly. The Bible itself even says this. Which means, the original (if there is such a thing) ''Word of God'' has been lost, and will remain subjective and unclear. You just choose which version you want to believe in.

***He asked his disciples to go and proclaim this message. Anyone who does that is a Christian.***

...how naive... maybe you should at least TRY not to generalize. It might increase the chances of the infromation you provide being accurate.

***Thus they are not Christians.***

Then that also means neither are YOU...
