What happens if a baby is miscarried?

Asked by fau about 1 month ago, 2 answers.

What happens if an unborn foetus dies in the early stages of pregnancy?
Does it just come out of the woman like a heavy period?

It depends how far along the mother is, usually in early stages the body will pass the baby but if it's far along sometimes the doctor needs to do a medical procedure to remove it. If it did happen early on, which in most cases it does, it's much like having a heavy period, yes.

If it's in the first 4 weeks, it's normally just like a regular period...you just might have been a little late. It's severe-you can hardly stand it kind of cramps though...and heavy bleeding.
