irony is getting a huge raise, when you are finally prepared to leave a job.

irony is getting a dream job, only to be laid off due to economy.

irony is turning down something, after you worked so hard to be in a position to get it. (like an interview, scholarship,etc..)

irony is your ex trying to get back with you, when you are finally over them.

irony is finding love, when you are totally not looking for it.

One example: A Treasury Secretary, in charge of the IRS, who had on his resume ‘failed to pay taxes’ (no jail time) is put in charge of making sure you pay yours (possible jail time) - why a qualified, ethical, candidate could not be found, is a mystery - irony: didn’t do the right thing but put in a position to make sure YOU do the right thing.
