Want to know if person with violent crime conviction can become rn

Asked by karenblk 22 days ago, 1 answer.

I would like to know if anyone who has had a conviction for a violent crime felony, but then got an expungement and certificate of rehabilitation, was then able to become licensed as a registered nurse in California. The Board of Registered Nurses only...

gives general answer.

I don't know the answer but would suggest you contact:

California Board of Registered Nursing
400 are Street, Suite 4030
Sacramento, CA 95814
P.O. Box 944210
Sacramento, CA 94244-2100
Ruth Ann Terry, RN, M.P.H., Executive Officer

If that is the agency you have already contacted, I can only suggest that you try again to a different person.

If you tried by phone, then maybe you would get a better answer trying by mail. Be specific. If your record was expunged, then that usually means that it is sealed or destroyed and is as if you hadn't been convicted for public information purposes.

Good Luck!
