hey , I know exactly what you are going through im 16, almost 17 and I have been a veg since I was about 13. it was hard at first to give up meat, because my favorite food was sushi. and my parents are also major meat eaters.
what I suggest doing is buying Boco Burgers, they taste exactrly like beef, but they are all vegitables. it will make an easy transition. also, if you are at resturaunt, they will ALWAYS have a side-dish with all vegitables, just order that. there is no resturaunt that serves ONLY MEAT.
Also, releasing this information to your parents will be hard, as it was for me. but if your parents truely love you, they will stickl buy your decision. tell them that you have made this choice, not as a fad, or because of friends, but because you think its right,
I would also like to tell you about a thing called P.E.T.A. its a group I work for, we are for animal right! it stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. please, check us out at peta2.com =) hope all of this has helped you,
systembreakr: You work for PETA!? That is so amazing and you're my new idol.
Anyway, I've been vegetarian since I was seven. My parents didn't like it because they cooked lots of meat and they were afraid that I wouldn't get enough protein. I ended up making my own dinner a lot and I'd have salad or cereal or fruits and vegetables. I eat a lot of dairy: milk, yogurt, low fat cheese for the protein. Not eating meat is actually a lot healthier. If you are a big meat eater and stop eating meat, you might lose a lot of weight at the begininng so make sure you are eating enough food.
Luckily for me, by the time I was seven, the only meat I had tried I hated anyway so becoming vegetarian was not hard. Maybe you should ease yourself off of the dumblings and shrimp. Most of all, don't give up! Best wishes.
Peace!
