Is vaseline better and safe for dry skin?

My wife is asking why Vaseline seems to work better for her dry skin than other lotions. Is Vaseline better, and is it healthy?

Vaseline works well on dry sking cuz when applied it leaves a thick layer and thus seals in the moisture better. As to whether it is healthy, well it is a petroleum product and natural products are better tell her to try cocoa butter that is also great on for dry skin. Vaseline should not be used on the face tho as it clogs the skin. It is however very good for dry lips.
