Tryouts for softball need advice!

ok I have been playing softball since I was 7 years old and I am tryign out for our school team. I am just not sure if I'm going to make it or not and I wld die for a spot. my favorite position is catcher and I want to be the catcher for our school I...

just need tips on how to over come my anxiousness and make the team.

if you have siblings, practice hitting the softball and also ask your brothers or sisters if they can pitch the ball to you so you can catch it...the more you practice, the less nervous you will be, but its perfectly OK to be nervous on the day.. goodluck

I wouldn't worry about it too much. you either got it or your don't. even if you don't make it, just work harder and try t make it next year.
I didn't really have any problem at all and I am going to be the starting catcher for my high school team next year as a freshman.

When I moved to my new school, I had the same problem. If you really believe in the sport and your agility on the field ( which it sounds like you do), then you shouldnt have a problem with tryouts. Just practice, practice, practice on your catchers' position-you never know if they might fill you for the spot . Constantly practicing will help you get your mind off your nervousness, and build confidence within yourself. I'm an outfielder for our school's JV softball team, but I did catch for two years- your high school catching years will be some of the best years of your life.

If you dont make the team, dont get discouraged. Keep on practicing...for next year's tryouts, or join your local rec. softball team--- this is really fun also, and will give you that benficial experience.
