Hi, I am starting to tear my hair out because I want to transfer some quite valuable photos off my ipod back onto my mac laptop and cannot find any step by step instructions to do this safely. the ipod is the photo ipod 40gb 4th generation. I am sure...

other people have done this, transferring songs back into itunes is a doddle but I can't say the same for photo transfers. thank you. petlady

Do you have the ipod connector for the laptop that plugs into the USB connection? If not, go to the apple store and buy one. It's the easiest way to transfer everything. It should directly upload into your iphoto files. If this isn't happening, go to the apple store. They're fabulous about helping with problems! Good luck!

The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-mac transfer program to help you. This is how I did. I used 4Media iPod to Mac Transfer. http://gutensoft.com/Utilities/4Media-iPod-to-Mac-Transfer.html

It can help easily transfer all music, photos, videos, podcast, and TV shows on your iPod back to Mac completely and safely, and add them to your local iTunes library. Also, you can use it to transfer files from iPod to iTunes or from Mac to iPod in a direct way.

The great thing is that it won't cause any deletion of any files while transferring.
Here is step-by-step guide:

Hope this helps.
