Yes it is now harder to get a visa from and Islamic country. After the WTC incident their has been a lot of silly things done here in America to make people feel safe and allow more government power over the people thanks to the idiots in power right now. It is not a strict timeline for recieiving a visa and it all really depends on your reasons that you include for visiting this country. We had a family member who came from an Islamic country and is attending flight school here in the states. The education visa did not take too long, around a month or two, and it was mostly just jumping through the hoops so that they could be accounted for once they got to the US.
