This question is for atheists - ii

Asked by eternallife 8 months ago, 15 answers.

Well I noticed most of you answered that they would believe in God if He came and proved himself. Some of you even said that it then no longer becomes a question of faith. That leads us the the next question.

Suppose these things happened to you in...

privacy and you came to know that God, heaven, hell etc are real. Now that you know the truth, you would also know that your friends the ones who are atheists are on their way to hell. And since you like them you don't want them to end up there.

What would you do to convince them about the truth and to rescue them?

***What would you do to convince them about the truth and to rescue them?***

Convincing someone of a (finger quotes) ''truth'' that you cannot prove is impossible. They can only choose to (finger quotes) ''believe'' this (finger quotes) ''truth'' based upon evidence that supports it. Evidence being either subjective or objective, depending on the source, and the individual.

I guess I would start by telling my friends that they're ignorant, and blind to the truth, and that I have special powers that allow me to sense God. And when they are no longer my friends, I'd go online to find other people to offend with my poorly supported, horribly presented, misguided message...

Then, after many more failed attempts, I'd begin to realize that many of the non-believers (whom I label all as 'atheists') seem to know more about MY one true religion than I do. So I would post a series of hypothetical scenarios in which I'm indirectly asking the atheists for advice on how to be a better representative of Christianity.

Nothing, since if there is a god, he's not a crazy freak like in christianity. So he wouldn't do anything to my friends. Unless he is a total asshole, that is. Which he shouldn't be if he's perfect, neh?

here is a clear cut example of religious brainwashing in action.

accept that there are people that do not want to hear about your god.

if you need a crutch to get through your life, fine that is great, believe what you want.
but keep your heaven and hell myths to yourselves- not interested, my leprecaun gods say all christians are going to be stuffed in a big jar when they die- after having a bean supper first- for all of eternity- farting and producing gas to create nebulas in the outer galaxies- PROVE THAT WRONG!!!

captainassassin well if you try that you will not be successful. You know what I woud do?

I would share with all my friends my new findings. And if they are offended I would not bother because I would want them to be saved. Then I would also try to access whomever I can to tell them about Jesus. I might then realize that the net is a good way to find a lot of people and share with them the Good news.

I would go to forums and try to provide answers to preach and I would find many people who are atheists and some people who do not reveal what faith they adopt. I would also find some who would just be interested in scoffing anything that I post by just posting one liners not having brains to type out some sense. I would also then meet some who has some very think skull and and are totally blind that they cannot see anything even it is stuck right into their face.

I would also post some questions to make some of them see things from a different angle, knowing very well that some of them would bite me back and will be as blind as ever.

However I would still in spite of all that they say continue to be witness of Jesus Christ because I still want them to be saved from their head long plunge to HELL.

I will keep praying that they be saved.

Therein lines one of the worst tenets of the Christian faith -- the desire to try and convince other people of what they believe. Your truth is your own. To assume that other people have not put as much thought and consideration into their truths as you have yours is the height of disrespect.

I know...

*** You know what I woud do?***

Yes... I do... and like I said before... you're failing...

***I would also post some questions to make some of them see things from a different angle***

Try something more original...

***I will keep praying that they be saved.***

You should instead be praying for a better understanding of how to best serve God... you REALLY need that.

With no verification by other people and with no empirical evidence of the events, I would seriously doubt my mental health and look for professional help.

Anyway, to think that the universal laws of nature would be broken by a creator of that same universe for my own personal benefit, is a deeply arrogant and undignified notion.

Well, if said god had actually conclusively proved his existence to me, I'd have solid evidence, wouldn't I? In which case, I could present other people with a rational case for belief in said god.

Unless you're suggesting that this god would incontrovertibly prove his existence to me in a way that precludes proving it to anyone else. But that would be pretty perverse of him, wouldn't it? And in a case like that, I wouldn't really expect anyone to believe me: There's no rational reason they should.

I wouldn't do anything to rescue them. Once I learned it had happened only to me, I would recognize that I was delusional and seek professional help.

Says the guy that goes around pasting salvation in every question about religion.
By the way, isn't that exactly what non-religious people are doing to you?
I mean the find some who would just be interested in scoffing anything that they post by just posting one liners not having brains to type out some sense' part.. happy

Eternallife,

Your vividly imaginary dreaming of god's appearance and all its 'what-ifs', speak of terrible desperation.

So far, your god is not part of reality!

Hi there Great question wellput. I suppose the answer is that they must see in your heart thaa something rings true you know like it must gel, your lifestyle and what you say you believe. Like if He's a God of Love . do you preach to me because you really ove me or becase you have some othr motive Like the apostle Paul , he worked himself while preaching so that no-one could even think he was after their money, he was giving his life so hey couldbe saved - just like Jesus did.
