This number called me claiming I have debt, what should I do?

blue Asked by nicegirl2cool 7 months ago, 6 answers.

There's this number with the area code of 703 called me twice and has called me before claiming I have debt but I told them I don't have debt, I know this for sure because I only owe over 200.00 dollars for a credit card that I have closed and I have been paying my credit card bills and I don't have anything else like loans and whatnot, so I'm sure I'm not in debt. I don't know why they called a few times saying I have debt when I know I don't and they wouldn't tell me where they got that from that I have debt. When I called back the number there was this recording saying something like, the number is not a legitmate call from SNL america or something that they don't do telemarketing calls something in that affect, what should I do?

well it might be a scam... see what they say if you offer them money. be sure not to give out any personal information... and possibly tell them to put you on their do not call list. that should make it illegal to call you..

Well, since you know that you are not in debt for sure then you should ignore the calls and don't give out any personal information and also call the bank of which you a credit card for and check if they gave your number to a third party, also if you have cell phone you may want to call your service provider.

Hope this will help,

Sometimes if you call a number, they can 'capture' your number and use it to run up huge phone bills. Be very careful.

It is a scam! Don't call them back, don't answer the phone! I would write down the number, and go to a government webpage and let them know about it so they can investigate. There are too many of these scams out there!
