The trinity?

Beautiful sky Asked by helpangl about 1 year ago, 20 answers.

Someone asked this question

'Because Jesus asked the Father why have you forsaken me, makes me wonder if he was really ready to die for our sins

I'm confused, isnt Jesus just God (or vice versa?). I thought there werent two seperate beings? then...

why would he be talking to himself?

Ok, for those who dont believe he was real - I get it, I'm just trying to understand the christian perspective on the trinity... are there 3 seperate beings for lack of a better word?

My understanding Jesus was both God and man - today He is seated at the right hand of the Father - He became man also so that he might experience and know in our physical nature all aspects we go through - He said 'if you have seen me you have seen the Father' - also 'Father forgive them for they know not what they do' - also 'why hast thou forsaken me?' (as man often feels) - the Trinity is 3 in 1, God the Father, God the Son, Jesus - God the Holy Ghost / Holy Spirit...hope this helps !!

It depends on what religion you are talking about. In the christian relgion, Jesus was God's son.
There are other religions though where jesus was God.

Okay, first of all the trinity. The best way to describe it is like an apple. We have the outer skin, the meat of the apple and the core. There all separate materials but put together they all make an apple. Just like God. We have God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy spirit. Put them together we have God.

Message me if you have any more questions.

***IGGY NORANT***

...incorrect spelling...

***Preston Dawkness has just listed a whole 4 pages of ~~FACTS / DATES/ HISTORY scriptures of the VERY WORD OF GOD... THESE PROVEN / ~~~NON OPINION ~~~BASED ~~~HISTORICAL ~~FACTS / DATES HISTORY scriptures of the VERY WORD OF GOD...***

WRONG. There is no proof that the Bible is 100% factual, and there is no proof that its the 'very word of God'

***MERE OPINIONS HAVE NO REFERENCES...OR FACTS...***

How are opinions generated then? A reference can be either factual or not.

***COMANDMENT***
***EXCLAIMINATIONS***

^ here's a couple^

You remind me of... Gurgy... from 'The Black Cauldron'.

***ALL DENIAL OF THE OBVIOUS PROVEN TRUTH.***

Which 'PROVEN TRUTH' to you speak of? Are you implying that EVERYTHING the Bible says is OBVIOUSLY TRUE? Or are you implying it is TRUE, that the Bible said everything that it said?

Your long-winded post STILL fails to explain why God talks to himself... and why he refers to himself as 'we'

***Why is this so hard?***

It's not hard... its ridiculous, because its not meant to be taken LITERALLY. You regurgitated the SAME principals but jumped back and forth between conclusions...

***there is one God, because they are one...***

Okay... one...

***They are all as one...***

...AS one, now? That implies separate individuals ACTING as, or merging into a singularity. Like sex... only without a female... then...

***this is exactly what Jesus did, and now, he is sitting at the right hand of the Father***

Now they're totally separate? MAKE UP YOUR MIND.

***they are so used to their own individuality, and would never... bow down, to someone else, to lead them, completely to the point where they did nothing on their own, without the head, giving them permission and direction***

Bowing down? Permission? Direction? NONE OF THAT IMPLIES A SINGULARITY. One guiding another, right? Let's count...

ONE (God)... guiding ANOTHER (Jesus). THAT MAKES TWO!

ONE (God)... guiding ANOTHER (Jesus)... via YET ANOTHER (Holy Spirit a.k.a. God's cell phone). THAT MAKES THREE!

You don't understand any of it either... you can't even EXPLAIN it... you just ACCEPT it... blindly.

NO, there is one God, because they are one... just like they want us to be...

In total agreement.. in complete harmony... with great respect, one for the other.

God turned over the redemption of mankind, into Jesus hands, when it is all done and over, Jesus will turn things back into the hand of the Father.

Jesus.. did nothing on earth, until the Father moved him to do so, thru the power of the Holy Spirit.

Why is this so hard?

They are all as one... I guess humans can't understand that, because they can't fathom, allowing another to completely guide them, , they are so used to their own individuality, and would never... bow down, to someone else, to lead them, completely to the point where they did nothing on their own, without the head, giving them permission and direction, yet, this is exactly what Jesus did, and now, he is sitting at the right hand of the Father, waiting for the winding up of all things.

Yes, Jesus was ready to die for our sins because, as the scriptures had said, He came to set His people free. Which people? All mankind, both then and now. As for being forsaken. The Father cannot stand sin, because of the horrible ways it defiles mankind. When Jesus said it, being forsaken, the bible records that the Father had turned His face away from His Son. Not because He didn't love Him. Quite the contrary. Jesus' death brought back a right relationship with His creation. The Father was turning His face away from the sin that Jesus bore in our place. Scripture says that, He who knew no sin, Jesus, became sin for us, that we, you and I and all mankind could have a restored relationship with God.
As for the Trinity issue. Nowhere in the bible is the word trinity used. It is however pointed out that in the Godhead there are three persons. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. All unified, all God. In John's gospel we read a very clear picture of this when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan. It is written, And when He, Jesus, came up out of the water, the heavens opened and the Spirit of God descended from heaven and the voice of the Father saying ,' This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased'.
Hope it helps.

There is much discussion on this subject, but, to me, it seems pretty simple.

I wish I had all the scriptures to list, but, that would take some time, maybe I will be able to get them together, and post them later.

for now, I will just say that the bible says that no one has ever seen God... the Father.

but, Jesus said, when you see me, you see the Father.

some would say this is contridictory, but, it really isn't..

It makes perfect sense to me, that God was, is, and always will be.. in Heaven.

However, Jesus.. came to earth... in human form.

And the Holy spirit brought this to pass.

Three in one.. all in unity and harmony...

All working together.. as one.

And this is one of the last prayers that Jesus prayed before he left here,

Father, I pray that they (the believers) become one, just as you and I are one.

Now.. how can that be??

And also, when the Holy Spirit first came.. at Pentecost, the bible said they were all in one... spirit... and one...accord..

how is that???

because they were all in agreement.

There is power in agreement.. and that is what the enemy fights so much...

the unity of the brethern.

The concept of the Trinity is a later development not found anywhere in the Bible. It was an idea debated heavily in the early church. Those who believed in it came to power and had everyone else killed off. ...not much of a basis for theology if you ask me.

In answer to the question then, it is not at all clear the the Gospel writers believed that Jesus was god the way Christians today do. They believed (as they explicitly state), that he was the Son of God; a divine being who has been given all authority, but still separate from the father.

Oh... schizophrenic?

Yeah, it portrays that, yes. But the bible's authors have a recurring problem of embellishing to a point where it no longer makes sense.

Ok... so you're castigating catholics, and you think most christians are liars... super...

And from your response, I'm guessing that you think there ARE indeed THREE separate entities, two of which talk to each other, and refer to temselves as 'one' and sometimes 'we' ...would this be correct?

How can you expect anyone to take you seriously (or your opinions), when you ramble, have terrible spelling grammer, and refer to yourself in the 3rd person?

Jesus said that because the sins of the world, current and future we on Him. More pain than you'll ever go through. The Father and Jesus are One, but not the same. That is part of the mystery of God.
