You can start using tampons. Sometimes they just take practice and if you insert them propertly then they won't hurt. Just inside the enterance of the vagina is a ring of muscle. Make sure the tampon is past that area when inserted and you can always put a little bit of vaseline on the end to help insertion. Start off with the smallest tampons first then increase in size with blood flow then reduce in size towards the end of your period. Change every 4 hours or more if needed, apart from when you sleep, change before you go to bed and when you wake up. Always wash your hands before inserting and after. I find them so much nicer than pads.

Good luck

Tampons are a matter of choice or preference, a little difficult at first but once you get the hang of them you'll love them. Thin slender ones with a plastic applicator are best for your first time. Relax and don't stress it, take your time and don't worry if it don't work the first time. Like anything it takes practice. Yes it sucks, but all we can do is deal with it.

If its your first time having your period, I would probably stay away from tampons for a bit. They're not necessary, it only matters if you feel its more comfortable than using a napkin. It doesn't necessarally 'hurt' when you use it, you just need to make sure you know what your doing before you go ahead and use one.
It may sound a little gross at first, but make sure to read the little instructions that come in the boxes, if you still cant figure out if you should use one or not, ask your mom or if you have an older sister.
Good luckkk!
