Pads don't usually do well in the water. Tampons can take some time to get used to. I would suggest getting some and practicing. It took me a while when I first started using them too. You can practice putting them in even if you don't have your period. You should be lubricated though because it is difficult to put things in when you are dry.
I know the feeling. Sometime when you are just going to be at home not doing a lot, put one in and just keep it in as long as you can. If it hurts or feels EXTREMELY weird, TAKE IT OUT and put another in, you probably just put it in too far, not far enough, or at a bad angle. Its hard to put it in your first few times, i know, but this could help you get used to it. Also, if you are having trouble GETTING IT IN AT ALL, just try another position. Maybe rather than sitting on the toilet, stand up and put your foot on the bathroom counter. Just remember to RELAX so your tight muscles dont make matters even more difficult. Good luck and have fun on your trip!
Hey ..dont use a pad in the ocean thats not a good idea when i first started using tampons it was a little weird. if it hurts that means that u have it in a bad angle so try to fix it and if u dont put it in far enough it will feel weird and if u just cant get it in then just breath and relax so your not tight and spred your legs apart and then try again..
hope everything turns out okay

How can i start to use tampons before this trip?
In about a month, my dad and i are supposed to go to canada for this father-daughter trip to snorkel with the beluga whales. And I am positive that I will be on my period while on this trip. I used a pad once in the ocean and everything turned out...
perfectly fine. But I am really worried that it may end up differently this time. I have tried inserting a tampon before, but I couldn't do it for some reason. I either need advice.
