Our world has had many times when one country almost conquered all. The british came closest when they controlled 2/3 of the entire planet. And now think about how many other times it almost happened, there are plenty, like with germany or rome. And now think about this, what if the world was suppose to get conquered before we invented nuclear weapons. it almost happened so many times, it seems like it was suppose to happen, but didn't. And the last attempt was right as the Adom Bomb came into play. WWII. And now what, next time someone tries to, the world is going to end. And trust me, someone will, its in our nature. anyone think im on to something.

Well, its hard to hold on to empires after you initially conquer them.

History is riddled with examples:

* Britain
* Rome
* France
* United States (see Iraq)

Its always easy to go in and 'destroy your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!'

But then what?

well if the world had been conqured we probably wouldn't have the problims we have today. we'd all be one nation. You never know something might happen to bring us all together.

Little history lesson for you: In the early 1st century the romans decided it was time to invade Ireland. But when they got there it rained non stop for a week so they left. They called Ireland Hibernia which roughly translated means 'WIntery land'.

So its safe to say that Italians would not have populated the world at least not too far from the equater ever again

(omg im waffling)

people are gready and want to control every one else, witch mean we wouldnt have are freedom no more im not worried about it because allot more countries are getting advance in weapons and technology and sciense so I doubt that all these other nations are just going to let this one nation take over its impossible thats why it has never happened because greed doesnt win

***we'd all be one nation***

If the world had been conquered, as based on the old Imperial model such as that demonstrated by the British, we would not all be one nation. All parts of the British Empire were different nations, and still operated as such, just under the influence of Britain.

Those that are members of nations conquered by Empires generally eventually get fed up with being told what do do, and rebel against it. Econsult1's list has many examples of Empires which have suffered that to some degree, and another one I would add to the list is the Soviet Union. One could argue the US and China are examples of countries trying to build Empires in the world today...

As an Irish man I couldn't agree more. But we were treated a bit different from the British when we were occupied. Everything from our Laungage to our land to even our sports were dictated upon I think thats why we really rebelled.

Oviously 800 years ago they never heard of intergration lol

An Empire would never make everyone 'one nation'. It would make the Imperial nation 'Top Dog' and all the other nations servants of varying degrees, depending on their perceived usefulness. That's what the Irish here have been pointing out - in fact all of our nations have been part of someone else's Empire at some point, I think. And none of our ancestors enjoyed it unless they happened to be 'Top Dog'.

(BTW, the phrase 'Top Dog' comes from an old English book from the '30s, giving a deliberately ignorant and very funny history of Britain and its Empire. It's called '1066 and All That' and it's still very good.)
