Has our government in the past decades given corporate america the rope to hang itself, in order to gain more control through bailouts?

I don't think they are that Machiavellian.
I think that the government caved in to the über-greedy corporate America so that it could rape consumers and become richer, and corporate America got über-über-greedy and spun out of control. And now OUR and YOUR tax money is being used to bail them out.

that would be an interesting conspiracy,but I think the bi-partisan bickering would'nt have let them maintain the ruse for that long...
