I know that I wasn't very confident on doing well on either the ACT or the GRE but I did very well on both. I was convinced that I completely blew my GRE subject test but I still did better than average. You may have done better than you think.

Entrance to college is competitive. I know some pretty bright students who failed to get into UT Austin on their first try. Most students apply to a couple of schools they really want to get into and a couple of schools they know they can get into as a fall back option.

If you want to graduate from UT Austin not getting in on the first try is not the end of the world. Consider going to another university or to community college and really apply yoursef and you can probablly transfer in a year or two.

I'm really a fan of the taking classes at community college. Often these colleges are as good or better than university on core and introductory classes. At universities these classes are often taught by teaching assistants or fellows who are only teaching for a paycheck and would rather be doing research. Instructors at community colleges often have committed themselves to teaching these classes and giving students a good foundation to build upon. Community college is also a much better value; especially when you can live with your parents.
