Republicans and federalists?

What were their views on the role of ordinary people should play in government.
It says that in my papers.
But I don't understand.
I can't pull it out of the reading.

Well, I'm trying to remember my history class...

I know the Federalists were started by Hamilton and he got together a lot of bankers and merchants to take place in the government (these are "orginary people".

As for the Republicans (Aka the Democratic Republicans), they were more inclined to include farmers and the like.
