In Ireland there used to be this exact same segregation problim. but we just get on with it and talk to who we want now. Religion dosent even come into it. sure I just found out the other day one of my best friends is protestant. I didn't have a clue because it just never came up.IT isn't an issue for you so why is it for your friends?

Just tell 'em - God made everybody, just because they're a different religion doesn't make them any less a person !!

If your friends doesn’t like you because if your religion then sorry to say that but they are really not your friends, because friends are friends not religion friends.

I dont think its about the religion or denomanation... its about our personal relationship with God. You might tell them that.

People are people it should make any difference on what religion you have! You might want to tell you friends about your other peeps, and let your friends get to know them for what kind of people they really are, and let them know not to judge a book by the cover!

I don't associate myself with religion. I was baptized Catholic, but never practiced. I think that religion is something that today's society doesn't need. War and conflict is an unfair price to pay for our right to practice freely. For example; the church of Scientology. I really shouldn't get into it, but you get my point right? Equality, Peace, Love, whatever happened to non denomination? I mean just because I choose to not to have faith in a particular religion, people label me as agnostic. And that's not right. People like your friends who are segregating you from your protestant friends should learn equal acceptance as human beings.

I have a problem with all religions, with all faiths, with all superstitions. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, and many other ideologies really do render themselves incompatible with the scientific method (and often scientific knowledge).

Biologist PZ Myers writes about the conflict between science and religion: http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2006/06/what_should_a_scientist_think.php

I am jewish and a research biochemist. I have always had a problem with organized religion vs. my scientific knowledge. I have found the reform jewish faith to be very compatible with my beliefs and knowledge. when I was young and attending different churches with my friends, I kept coming back to the question of what about the dinosaurs? lol. it was my first introduction to the reality of different viewpoints and modern knowledge vs. biblical story.
as far as your friends not being comfortable with you having friends outside your faith. I have never associated myself with anyone that is closed minded or prejudiced . in life, you have to be true to what you think is right. maybe your friends don't understand how closely related most religions are.

Well if they believe in god then they should not be quick to judge because the only one worthly of judging any one is god

One of the biggest problems with faith is the unnecessary divides it creates between human people. Right now, there are military conflicts that are based on theological grievances. I recommend that you become as liberal and ecumenical (friendly to other religions) as humanly possible or abandon your religion entirely.
