How to reduce the urges to cut?

I'm trying to overcome cutting. I have been for a while. I haven't cut for around 9 or 10 months and just recently did it again, on one occasion, about 2 weeks ago. I recently started counceling and it is helping a lot. But really I want to know how to...

overcome the guilt of it. Has anyone been successful at stopping and if so can you give me some reassurance that one day I might be able to forgive myself or advice on how to continue this process and reduce the urges?

hey well I use to be a cutter also and well I did it for many years since I was about 12 and well I stopped at age 15 or 16 and well I think it was because of my boyfriend he showed me that there really are people out ther who do care and love you and cutting urself and or wanting to end your life is not worth it.
so yeah you have to let urself be cared for and loved and yes you will feel guilty but all that will go away in time I promise you its all in the healing process.

1st of all well done on the 9 or 10 mth.
don't forgot how well you did to get that far.
we all have slips, it's not an easy thing to give up.
I haven't cut for 1yr 6 days.
but when things get me down I still get the urge.
it gets easier to fight with time.
I compete with myself when it comes to this.
if I cut myself today I'd have to beat the 1y 6d record I'd done.
that's sooo long, so it's put me off doing it.
besides summer isn't far away and I don't want anyone to see cuts/scars.
my fiance knows I cut in the past, but I haven't since I've known him.
so I also don't want him to see cuts.

I cut and I would also like to know a really affective way of stopping. I've looked on the internet but the alternatives they give just dont seem to work.
My guidance teacher has made me an appointment with a counceller for some time this month so hopefully that will help too
