The controllers produce radio waves in order to transmit your commands to the car, but there's usually no reason for the car to transmit information back. There are some cars that do transmit information back to the controller, like those that have an on-board camera. There are also some remote controllers that rely on infrared transmissions, and so shouldn't use radio.

Even if the car isn't designed to use radio to transmit information, things like the car's motors, solenoids, and even its circuitry will produce small amounts of unavoidable radio interference.
