The best and most effective thing you can do is to join some national orgs, like peta, hsus, aspca. Join their fight against the fur trade. You can also sign the many petitions against the use of “raccoon” dogs in fur imported from China. The dogs look like raccoon and many companies in this country mislabel their furs by just saying “raccoon” on the label. J.C. Penney, Macy, Saks, etc have all been cited for using this false labeling method. On a local front, you can join animal rights groups that are approaching this problem with the local stores. I am an animal rights activist and do not believe in spray painting stores or people wearing fur for that matter. But I do believe in the power of peaceful protest and educating the public. When we picket, we distribute literature containing the truth about the cruelty of the fur trade. Don’t go with PETA their reputation has become very bad even among animal rights activist. The aspca is probably the best way to go.

You need to arrange an entire assembly against the fur trade and secure a massive petition before the president will even look at you.
