Why do people care so much about popularity?

I hate thinking that people judge eachother on popularity or say I know I'm popular like thinking so highly of thmeselves and when people ask my opinion on someone or myself I really try to say that it does not happen and no ones better than anybody...

else. Honestly I know people do judge on popularity but like I feel so akwarded out by it because I was always taught nobody is better than anyone else but lately I feel it not like that and Im wondering where I stand in the whole popularity thing and if anybody feels the same way

ya im that way too, its like idk where my place is in popularity or whatever u want to call it, cuz i hang with everyone, the popular ppl, the losers, the emo ppl...adn the list goes on and on

^^^ what she said!!! the people that think high and mighty of themselves, just end up looking like fat fake idiots to everyone else. you're right about nobody being better then anyone when it comes to popularity, don't let someone tell you otherwise.

I hear ya for sure!
It sucks always knowing that there are people that think they are so much better then you and they are always there to rub it in your face. And at the same you know that there are people around you that wish they could be as good as you and it makes you feel weird. It just seems like there is no line, its either your popular or your a loser pretty much. And thats actually really sad, but its what is has come down to and theres not much we can do about it.

popularity.. is stupid, it is just a way for LOSERS. to think they are cool, and to gain followers by doing it, unfortunately, people dont understand that all they have to do is find a group of friends they are cool with and call it a day. reguardless. your not going to be in school FOREVER so who cares? that's just the way I see it. dont be a nube.

Short? Sex.

More popularity means more possible partners means more sex means higher possibility to reproduce yourself. It's a sex-thing. :P
