How are poor people republicans?

what I don't get is how are poor people republicans??? that is just like putting oil on top of water it just does not mix!! if your going to b a republican I thnk that you shud b rich, or a lil above avrg america. people that live and trailors just shud not b voting 4 mccain. its so stupid on there part!!! does any 1 else agree with me, or am I the only person that this upsets???

If you look at history (say, the presidential policies of the tax breaks in particular) over the last 28 years...republican presidents have given away far more to the ultra rich, than they have to the ultra poor.

As an aside, they also voted *against* increasing the minimum wage, which is something democrats were pushing for...

let's try to use some facts, shall we? when discussing politics

To us a very specific example: George W Bush's tax break for the ultra rich cost the government more money than the tax rebates & refunds he gave to middle & lower class. A fact.

And the funny thing is, Gore explained this in a debate on CNN before the election...watching it made me realize why the USA scores lowest of all industrialized countries in mathematics.

It would appear you may have bought into the party line 'hook, line, and sinker' - maybe their values are more aligned with the other party...possible - I'm a conservative, not a Rep.

you must be a liberal democrat; guess what there are poor people that are democrats you are just so arrogant that you do not even realize it.

I am a member of middle class america, even if I was hurting for cash I still wouldn't vote democrat.
I don't believe in anything that the democrats represent- especially the two running for the nomination this year.
I am a republican, always will be.

There are many poor and lower income people who buy into the republican propaganda. The knuckledraggers stir up fears of terrorism, high taxes, and what ever hot button issues they can use. And yes, it causes people to cling to their guns and religion because they are being lied too and told they are in danger of losing them. They use patriotism to blind them from the truth. It is shameful the way they are manipulated by the rightwing, but most of them are too busy living and working hard to survive to really take notice of what is really going on. Meanwhile the real benefactors of republican policies get richer, while the poor get poorer.

Well, for one, being a republican or democrat doesn't affect your job.

Democrats are less likely to go to college or finish high school than republicans, and that is true.

And, a lot of republicans are middle class, take the military for example, they don't make a lot of money, but most if not all are republicans.
