well I started getting acne at 21, I was saddened to learn that I have adult acne which I will most likely have until my mid 40's. Thus I have become an expert on acne from estheticians to doctors...lol I am paranoid about it! lol do not over wash your face people tend to think the more you wash they will go away when actually over washing can trick your body into thinking theres not enough oil which will stimulate the production of more oil, resulting in more pimples. two to three times a day I was at bed and in the morning. do not squeeze pimples, causes more acne, and I highly recommend proactive, I know uve seen the infomercial, I was a big sceptic but I tried it two years ago and I have been using it ever since!!! its great! what ever you choose to use for acne med. stick with it it will usually get worse before it gets better! dont switch acne washes to many times pic one and stick with it, give it a good month before deciding to go to another

Externally applied antibiotics such as erythromycin, clindamycin or tetracycline aim to kill the bacteria that are harbored in the blocked follicles. Whilst topical use of antibiotics is equally as effective as oral, this method avoids possible side effects of stomach upset or drug interactions (e.g. it will not affect the oral contraceptive pill), but may prove awkward to apply over larger areas than just the face alone.

Tetracycline, here under the name Tetralysal, is a common antibiotic used to fight acne

Clindamycin and erythromycin are the two most common of this type of acne treatment. The efficacy of these products, which are clinically equivalent, lies in the reduction of the P. acnes bacteria on the skin's surface and in the follicle. Although they are also naturally anti-inflammatory, they have no comedolytic effects, and thus do not help preexisting blemishes. Topical clindamycin is available in solution, gel, and lotion formulation; Topical erythromycin is available in cream, solution, gel, pledget and wipes. Topical erythromycin reduces lesions by 50%-60%. The addition of zinc to erythromycin ehances the effectiveness of the product, reducing blemishes even further.

If improvement with topical antibiotics starts to diminish, then the treatment should be temporarily discontinued. This will prevent a tolerance or resistance to the drug from developing.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

Firstly using substances derived from vitamin A like retin-a or tazarotene, to reduce inflammation of the skin and to unplug pores. Retin-A can cause skin reddening at first but this is quite normal as the skin's blood supply is improved and younger looking skin begins to appear presenting a youthful complexion. Using a product that includes zinc will also help the vitamin a function better.

Strong cleaners will actually make acne worse because they take so much oil out of your skin that your body automatically produces MORE oil, making it worse. What you need to do it buy a gentle cleanser and moisturize with a oil-free lotion.
