I wouldn't get a pet tarantula if the site of spiders freaks you out. I'm sure you'd be more freaked out if little Harry the Tarantula escaped from his tank and you found him crawling in your bed. Why don't you get a Hermit crab, frog, or small lizard? These are low maintenance pets that don't give people a heart attack. Why don't you do some research on these pets? Fun mail me if you need any help!

Lantern, that post was pretty ignorant.

Poopadoodle, if you are absolutely repulsed beyond belief with no hope, then dont get a tarantula. If you are curious but jump or get anxious when you are around them, it may help you lessen or even erase your fear of them. I know quite a bit of reformed spider-haters, most girls, and they are glad they owned one, because they aren't afraid of little ones around the house anymore. They even take them outside in cups as an eco-friendly way to live.

I think I get where you're coming from, poopadoodle34. A tarantula probably scares you less because you've seen other people's reactions to it and it seems friendlier than other spiders. You want to get this pet because it may help you feel more comfortable around all spiders. A lot of experts say that you have to make contact with a spider to banish your fear of them, so getting a tarantula for a pet would be like taking a big step towards conquering your fear. You have more courage than me, though. I'd be terrified to even see a tarantula in the distance. Lol. But I say you should go for it, if it means being free from all that fear. Good luck.
