Hi,

They sell flea carpet powders at many supermarkets and petshops. You shake the powder on the carpet and let it sit for a certain number of hours to kill the fleas. Then, you simply vacuum the powder (and dead fleas) up. It works.

or you can get a shampooer and shampoo it then after that, do what she said, vacum up all the dead fleas.

AND THEN repeat after a while, because flea eggs are often NOT killed by powders.
It's important to take care of the source, also. Usually pets. De-flea them and follow that up.
Fleas are tough little guys. It took me weeks to get rid of my infestation.

salt works. first treat your pets. then sprinkle salt over the carpet. vacum, throw out the bag (very important). sprinkle salt daily for the next two weeks. vacum daily, throw out the bag. it's a good way to do it without the harsh chemicals.
