Its actually Umbilical cord ulcers that develop into “outies”, usually from the way it was cut and sealed, if blood reached into a part of the umbilical cord from the naval during the time it should be “falling off” the skin will “heal” a part of it turning it into a mass of skin….

It’s a result of how the nurse cuts the umbilical cord, and sometimes a result of how it heals on the baby. But I know a lady who is a nurse and she claims to be able to ask new parents if they would like inny or outty because she knows how to cut it! haha
