Noisy cat driving me up the wall ....

Can someone help please?! I have a female cat called Rodney. I have had her since I found her as a kitten (I live in Southern Spain and there are literally hundreds of badly treated, neglected cats and kittens everywhere). When she was about 7 months old she escaped but luckily I found her. To my surprise/delight/horror 2 months later she had kittens. These are all now safely re-homed. Just recently, she has started to make lots of noise, growling, howling, constant meeowing. Before she was very quiet but now it is really getting to the point where she is annoying me and I don't think I can put up with it much longer. How can I teach her? I don't want to shout at her because she doesn't seem to realise what she is doing - for example some noises she makes sound like she is in pain but she is actually rolling around or playing with a ball or whatever.

HELP!

Sounds to me like she is in heat. I'd suggest having her spayed in case she gets out again. The constant meowing is usually to attract male cats that she may sense are in the area. Also some cats are just more 'verbal' than others. If there is some Siamese in her background, then she is just 'talking' to you!

there must be something bothering her, it could be hyperthyroidism or renal problems. Don't give up on her ...

yep- she's in heat. She won't go out of heat until she gets bred again. Then when she has another batch of kittens and they get weaned, she'll come right back into heat again....it's just the way cats are. The only thing you can do to stop it is to get her spayed.
