Is new york a good place to travel for vacation?

Is New York a good place to travel or tour with a family of 4 with a sibling thats 8 years old? And what places in New York would you recommend? I heard from some one before its not a very good place to go to. Very bad harsh community, subways are...

horrible full of bad people that hang out/hobos.

no its not at all I went there like a week ago, its terrible for smallchildren, yes there are a lot of hobos espcialy in coney island, the only places I like are timesqaure and 5th avenue, most new yorkers are very rude and bad mannered apart from a few indervidulas, its a very strange place if you ever want to go their make sure you do not have many small children, its not a play for children under 13 (lol for I am 14 and didnt like it) I was very clostraphobic with all the tall buildings, some of the city is really nice some of it is really bad, manhatten is ok but everywere else is... rough, while I was there, 3 diffrent people were killed, 1 hit and run the other 3 shot dead, its quite a challanging place and the taxi rides... well I thought it wud be my last time in a taxi lool they drive like maniacs xxx

but time sqaure is beautful but new york over all is over rated

yes the subways have load sof dodgey people and hobos sleeping on the floor, quite shoking actually xxx

well my mom used to live there ad she sayd the streets smell like piss and the subways are a nasty way to travel
and the streets arre dangerous
and everything is way more expensive than down south

but if your into the broadway plays and stuff thats the best place to go!
