Nail polish keeps chipping at the ends and i cant paint without..

Ok does anyone know any secrets to avoid chipping polish and making it last weeks??
I also have a problem where when I pain em, I cant help but get some polish on the skin along my cuticle and fingertips. How do I avoid it?? My mom did my nails once and...

she never got a spec on my skin:/ help please!!!

a steady hand helps. I can't paint the right hand nails on my hand properly EVER!! my left hand however always end up perfet.
as for chipping. it really depends on activity you do. like cleaning and washing and sports..etc
