My pregnant chihuahua is about to have her pups I have no idea how to help her or what to do at all!! I have never delt with a pregnant dog before so this is going to be my first time. I have no idea what I can o to help her in the process of having...

her pups. I don't know what to look for, if something is going wrong you know. Please HELP!!!

At this juncture, it's kinda late for a crash course...I'll send you an invite to our Dog Group...there's a couple of real breeders there, with years and years of experience between them...You can't just hope mama will know what to do, especially if this is a first litter...

what you want to do is get a box where she can jump in and out, but where the pups cannot. you place a blanket that if famiiar to your dog.in the box. Wash theblanket and let your dog use it close to the due date to prepare the scent that the pups will need. don't let any other animal use it.

Place the box somewhere dark and quiet. Dogs natually live in caves and she will need a den for her pups. Do not watch her in giving birth, as you might throw her off. She may not understand your intentions and become very defensive and cause birth complications. She will be in the most delicate state of her life, which is why she will not understand you. Just listen for complications. Do not handle the babies once they are born. you want to give her at least 5 days, and then introduce your self. nturally you want to check that they are all fine and none are born in stillbirth.

Call your vets office and probably an answering service wii answer. There is a doc and call 24/7 and should be able to tell you what you need to know!!

The only thing is that is the puppy isnt brething then it has fluid in her lungs so you need to shake ehr to get it out I no it sounds cruel but they did it on heaps of t.v shows and the puppys came gwd it doesnt fail just shake her till she starts yapping/breathing

THING IS IS I RESCUED HER OFF THE STREETS WHEN I GOT HER SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE HAD ALREADY HAD HAD A LITTER (OR 2) ALREADY. SO I'M ALMOST POSITIVE THIS ISN'T HER FIRST LITTER. I'M ALMOST POSITIVE WERE GOING TO BE HAVING THEM SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF FEBURARY.
