My hair turned purple and green...can I dye it again?

Right… Well I have… or had medium browny hair, and I decided to dye it black with Stargazor semi-perminant (4-6 washes) hair dye. This was about a month ago.

Anyway the next day my hair was REALLY purple at the roots, and dark brown at the ends. It was quite funny actually… Anyway I washed it about 10 times that week and eventually most of the purple disappeared. Then I started noticing green strands in my hair, and even now, about 25 washes later, I still have the odd slightly green strand, but nowhere near as bad.

A week or so ago I died it hazlenut brown with some really weak hair dye to try and get rid of the green, and it sort of worked, but it still isn’t the colour I want. I either want it a reeeaaally dark brown, or just jet black. Do you think it will be okay to dye it again now?

And also, I have a black schwarzkopf semi perminant hair dye, and some caca noir (black henna) from lush in. Do you think I should risk using either of them, or go to a hairdressers? Please answer if you can. Thanks :)

to the person above me, You are frying your hair, and I’m sure its not soft at all and when you blowdry it its probably crazy frizzy… even if you feel like you arnt ruining your hair, I can guarentee you are. Ask any hairdresser.. And if you keep bleaching your hair it WILL fall out. the bleach KILLs the tiny bit of alive cells in your hair, and creates holes in it (they’re very very small so you cant see them.. dont try looking) and this allows your hair to suck in any and all of the mosture/hair dye it can to try to make up for the damage you have done to it. take a strand of your hair and put it under a microscope.. and then look up a picture of healthy hair under a microscope.. you’d be so grossed out

as for the purple and green problem, stores that specialize in hair products will have shampoos you can use to take these colors out. also, if you dont want to spend $50 and up at hair salons, buy a good quality hair dye… not the cheapest one. The saying “you get what you pay for” is best proved with hair dye..

no dont dye it again go to your hairdresser A.S.A.P

I hope you aren’t using bottle dye you bought in a store. that stuff isn’t worth the $10 they want for it. just fork over a chunk of money to the pros and let them handle it. that way, if it messes up you get a free service. bottle dyes don’t work that way. if your hair is turning wierd colors you need to let the pros fix it. semi perminant colors are a waste of money. it stays in your hair forever as a different color and it breaks your hair down.

I dye my hair constantly and I NEVER go to a salon and mine never changes colors… only If I go swimming? Does it change to green/purple. xD

By the way, when people say you’re going to fry your hair..That’s not true. Me and my mom have been bleaching and dying our hair for years and hair hair hasnt fallen out… The bottles you buy at the store, yeah, they fad over time. So do salon hair colors…If it’s not natural, ITS GOING TO FADE.

If you don’t like your color now, change it. If I dye my hair, and it’s now how I like it.. Wash your hair with Dish soap.. It really gets it out in two rinses tops.

Answer #5

don’t dye your hair anymore. you either need to let the hair dye grow out. or go to a salon. you’re just frying your hair by dying it over and over.

Answer #6

Yes! Dye isn’t bad for your hair, it’s bleach that is. Any color that makes you go darker has no bleach in it, just don’t dye it blue black. Good luck! Should be easy.

Answer #7

dont use semi-permanent store bought dyes because they fade into ugly shades, go to a hairdresser and they’ll fix it 4 u

Answer #8

nobody is happy with their own hair is always fun to change! Good luck!
